Rehab Assistant

Avian Haven is hiring a Rehabilitation Assistant to support the daily care and rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wild birds. This full-time position is based at our wildlife rehabilitation center in Freedom, Maine and includes hands-on husbandry, patient monitoring, enclosure care, recordkeeping, and assisting with clinical procedures under the supervision of experienced staff. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to ethical wildlife care, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Seasonal Intern

Avian Haven is now accepting applications for Wildlife Rehabilitation Interns for Summer 2026. This 11–12 week internship offers hands-on experience caring for injured, sick, and orphaned wild birds at one of New England’s largest bird-only rehabilitation centers. Interns work closely with experienced staff during our busiest season, gaining practical skills in avian care, handling, and rehabilitation while playing a vital role in our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Maine’s wild birds. On-site housing and a small stipend are available for full-time interns.
